Last week I did a week-long series of videos about the concept of setting EPIC goals. EPIC is an acronym that stands for goals that:
You can get EXCITED about
Are PURPOSEFUL in impact;
Are INTUITUVE as a next step for you; and
You will stay COMMITTED to.
I shared my take on each of the key words, and how the process of really slowing down to set and work out EPIC goals has gotten me fired up about the next steps for my business and life.
So maybe you followed the series – or NOT – but either way you may love the idea of setting goals. But what do you do once you have them written down? That’s REALLY when the rubber hits the road.
In the last video of the series I talked about what you actually need to do once your goals are set. It got great feedback so I wanted to share it here.
So once you set EPIC goals – it becomes all about the WHAT, the WHY, the HOW & the WHO.
- WHAT do you really want? Is the end result so clear and exciting that you can taste it?
- WHY does this matter so much to you? Peel back a few layers and really focus in on how this will positively impact your life.
- HOW you achieve the goals is critical. What is your action plan? Do you know what you should be doing and just need accountability? Or are you in a phase of needing guidance and strategy? Either way – this question must be answered.
- WHO you become during the process and journey is so important to recognize. I can guarantee that even if you don’t hit your goals on the timeline you hoped for – if you are moving forward with intention and a plan you are becoming a better version of yourself. Celebrate that!
I have really clear answers to these questions and am trying to stay tuned in to my WHAT & WHY daily (I even have a daily reminder in my phone calendar to ping me). Because if I can keep those two as a priority, I am more likely to implement the HOW, and continue to grow WHO I am along the way.
